Safeguarding

How we keep children safe, and how to raise a concern, including when the concern is about us.

If a child is in danger right now

Call the police on 000. Do not wait to tell us first, and do not wait for us to act.

What we commit to

  • Every person in a role with children holds a current New South Wales Working With Children Check, verified before they start and re-checked when it expires.
  • No adult is alone with a child out of sight of another adult.
  • Children are signed in and released only to the adult who signed them in.
  • Leaders are trained before they begin and are supervised by the pastoral team.
  • Concerns are recorded in writing, whether or not they turn out to be serious.
  • Nobody is asked to keep a concern about a child inside our church.

Raising a concern with us

You can raise a concern with any leader, or in writing to frontdesk@thetransedge.com, or by calling (02) 7209 1453. You do not need proof and you do not need to be certain. A concern is enough.

You will be told what happens next. You will not be asked to prove anything, argue your case, or explain why you are worried before it is taken seriously.

Raising it outside our church

You are entitled to go straight to any of these, at any time, including instead of telling us. Doing so is not disloyal and it is not a last resort.

Our obligations

In New South Wales we are subject to the Child Safe Standards and the Reportable Conduct Scheme, both administered by the Office of the Children's Guardian. An allegation against a worker is reported whether or not it is substantiated; that is not ours to decide case by case.
